We’ve got some proper exciting news for you.
Sevadis are officially joining The Sustainable Dad as our new charging sponsor – and it’s a partnership built around one simple shared mission:
Making the journey to NET Zero easier, cheaper, and way more practical for normal people (and normal driveways).
If you’ve been following the channel for a while, you’ll know we’re obsessed with the real-life stuff:
What works, what doesn’t, what saves money, and what makes EV ownership feel effortless.
And charging at home is the big one.
So let’s talk about what this partnership means and what you can expect.
Why Sevadis?
Charging is one of the biggest “make or break” moments for anyone going electric.
It’s where EV life becomes genuinely convenient and cost effective:
wake up → full battery → no detours → no drama.
Sevadis are specialists in EV charging hardware and supply supporting homeowners, businesses, and installers. They’re geared for what we care about most – doing it properly, and not just doing it quickly.
What this partnership will bring?
Well, according to Adam Featherstone from Sevadis: “Ric brings a tonne of knowledge and real life experience, combined with ridiculous energy and creativity. We can’t wait to see what the sustainable dad channel can capture along the road, powered by Sevadis!”
We’re gonna get technical, but without too much jargon…
1) Practical charging guides (that aren’t boring)
We’re going to build a series that answers the questions you message me most about:
- What charger should I get for my driveway?
- Tethered vs untethered – what’s best in real life?
- Do I need load balancing?
- Can I charge off-peak and save decent money?
- What should landlords and tenants do?
- What’s the “future-proof” choice if you’re planning to keep your house a while?
Clear, honest, no fluff and filmed in real homes, with real setups.
2) “Charging myths” tested properly
Expect myth-busting videos working with the fantastic Generate Media team where we test the claims:
- Does a smart charger save money worth talking about?
- How much difference do tariffs make over a year?
- Is home charging always cheaper than public?
- What’s the real-world impact of charging speed at home?
Do not fear! If it can be measured, we’ll measure it.
3) Behind-the-scenes with installers (and what you should watch out for)
We’re also going to bring you more installer-led content because the install is where most people get tripped up.
We’ll cover things like:
- What a good/excellent site survey looks like
- Common install mistakes (and how to avoid them)
- How to plan cable runs cleanly
- What “OZEV” actually means for you (and who it applies to)
- What questions to ask before you sign anything
Basically: helping you avoid the “I wish I’d known that” moments.
4) Cross-channel collabs and community content
This partnership isn’t just a logo on a video. They bring far more value than that to my readers!
You’ll see Sevadis popping up across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and the blog with collabs that include:
- quick explainers and weekly tips
- short-form “charging hacks”
- Q&As where you send in your questions and we answer them on camera
- live chats and comment deep-dives (yes, the spicy ones too)
5) Charger giveaways (because why not?)
Yep! We’re planning giveaways – Subject to thumbs up from Sevadis :), so remember to follow both of our channels so that you don’t miss a competition where you can win home charging kit (and in some cases, we’ll look at helping towards install support too, depending on the campaign).
Details will be announced on the channel and socials, so make sure you’re following along.
How this fits into the Journey to Net Zero
For me, “Net Zero” is about normalising electric life.
Not just reviewing cars but helping you:
- charge smarter
- spend less
- feel confident making the switch
- future-proof your homes and routines
And Sevadis are a perfect fit for that.
This partnership means I can go deeper, be more helpful, and create content that genuinely moves the needle especially for those considering EVs.
What happens next?
Over the next few weeks you’ll see the first wave of charging content dropping – starting with a practical guide that breaks down:
which home charger setup is best for your situation (driveway, budget, tariff, and future plans).
And as always – if you’ve got a question you want answered in the series, send it in. If loads of you are asking the same thing, we’ll build a video around it.
Want to get involved?
Drop a comment (or message) with
- what EV you drive (or are thinking of buying)
- what your parking setup is (driveway / on-street / shared parking)
- what you want to know about home charging
And keep an eye out for the first giveaway announcement.
Big love and welcome to the next chapter.
