Exclusive Polestar 4 Review – The car with no rear window?

We were recently invited to an exclusive media day by Polestar to get behind the wheel of not one, but two of their latest EVs: the Polestars 3 and 4.

The Sustainable Dad Richard Boullemier ⚡️ was behind the wheel with our new stunt driver David Garrido, while Polestar’s Henry Butt, and Joakim Rydholm gave us the benefit of their impressive technical expertise. While both cars were impressive, the Polestar 4 is really special and so here are a few of our combined thoughts.

Polestar 4 Dreamy Design

Polestar have reinvented the SUV coupe with the 4. Yes, it has the classic sloping roof but the clever design allows for so much more space. Henry Butt, Head of Product for Polestar explains more in this clip.

The Polestar 4’s Super Size

Thanks to the new headrail position, the Polestar 4 still packs a punch with masses of room and Kim Palmer (Head of PR & Comms, Polestar) was loving the reclining back seats and back seat controls.

Polestar 4 a quick overview:

Still powerful, but the 4 is more about agility so you can have fun zipping around town or twisty country lanes. You feel in absolute control on the turns and this really is a beautiful car to drive. Polestar have simply nailed this!

Brilliant Braking:

Still powerful, but the Polestar 4 has simply ridiculous acceleration. I have now decided to do the Dad braking challenge every time I review cars and so I duly did it with the Polestar 4. What a surprise though! My mind was blown how quickly this car stopped.

Tantalising Tech:

Similar advanced tech as the Polestar 3 with an infotainment system running on Android but we felt that this car feels more focused on the driver experience. The minimalist interface is clean, intuitive and very easy to navigate whilst you drive. The sound system is just brilliant and totally configurable which is just perfect when carrying passengers and you’re trying to chat.

Ridiculous Range:

Range is such a massive thing when people buy electric. These days most EVs do around 200 miles without charging but the incredible Polestar 4 does just short of 400. Watch to see how far you could get across Europe without charging!

No Rear Windscreen? 🤔

This is the Polestar 4’s main party trick. Admittedly driving without a rear windscreen takes a bit of getting used to but the Polestar 4 has clever cameras and sensors, so you don’t miss the view and everything feels very muc under control. Definitely a bold move by Polestar, but we love it. See what you think.

Final Thoughts

We’ve driven a lot of EVS but the Polestar 4 is next level cool and by far, their most sustainable car yet. It is a genuine contender to replace my beloved Lightning McQueen aka Tesla Model S P85+. Super stylish and techy, it might just win over the most die-hard petrolheads. Check it out!

Could this be the EV for you?

Huge thanks to Kim Palmer and Chloé Siân Yemm for the epic tour and as always a shoutout to our hard-working content wizards, Lewis Burgess and Callum Tester. Here’s the full video:
