Polestar 3: The SUV for the Electric Ages

The Polestar 3 has arrived, and we think it’s setting an exciting new benchmark for electric SUVs. Combining cutting-edge design, advanced tech, and a focus on sustainability, this SUV is ready to take on the likes of the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Mercedes EQE SUV. We spent a day with the Polestar 3, diving into its design, performance, and features, and even chatted with Sky Sports presenter and Polestar owner David Garrido about his first impressions. We’ve put together our thoughts and here’s everything you need to know about this electrifying new addition to the EV world.

Striking Design with Purpose

Polestar calls the 3 “an SUV for the electric age,” and it’s easy to see why. The designers have lowered the roof height, giving it a sleek, coupé-like stance that enhances aerodynamics without sacrificing practicality. Inside, the panoramic roof extends over the rear passengers, creating a light and airy cabin that feels spacious for the family.

Interior: A Blend of Luxury and Simplicity

Step inside the Polestar 3, and you’re greeted by a minimalist yet luxurious interior. The seats are comfy, with ample headroom and legroom for everyone. The floating centre console adds a modern touch, offering plenty of storage space underneath for glasses, keys and other everyday essentials.

If you’re a tech enthusiast you’ll love the user-friendly Google-powered infotainment system. A head-up display and a digital driver’s display keep key information like navigation and battery range front and centre to avoid unnecessary distractions. Essential when you have little ones asking questions when you’re driving! The optional Bowers & Wilkins sound system, featuring no less than 25 speakers (including some in the headrests) means you enjoy a truly immersive audio experience when banging out those favourite tunes.

Performance: Power Meets Practicality

Time to get technical! The Polestar 3 packs a serious punch under the bonnet. The long-range dual-motor model comes with a 111kWh battery. In practical terms this translates to up to 392 miles (WLTP) on a single charge. It accelerates from 0-60mph in just 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 130mph. If you prefer the single-motor version, you can expect an impressive 403 miles of range. And with a maximum DC charging rate of 250kW, the Polestar 3 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes—perfect for family road trips.

Road Trip Ready

Speaking of road trips, the Polestar 3 is an ideal companion. With a spacious 484-litre boot (1,411 litres with the seats folded) you can chuck golf clubs or picnic bags in and still have extra space. There’s also a handy “frunk” for storing charging cables. This car is built for adventure! Effective air suspension ensures a smooth ride for everyone, and the regenerative braking system maximises range while keeping the drive engaging. Whether you’re heading to the Alps or commuting around town, this SUV is ready.

Minor Grumbles

As with any vehicle, there are a few quirks and here are ours! Firstly, adjusting the wing mirrors requires navigating the infotainment system, which we found a bit fiddly. Also, there are only two window buttons for all four windows. This means that you have to use a toggle to switch between the front and rear—a really odd choice for a premium car.

David Garrido’s Take

Sky Sports presenter and Polestar 2 owner David Garrido joined us to share his first impressions of the Polestar 3. In his words “It’s glorious. The car feels powerful yet calming, and it adapts perfectly to your mood and driving style. It’s everything you’d want in an electric SUV.” He was also enthusiastic about the spacious rear seats, noting that even taller passengers will enjoy plenty of head and legroom.

Who Is the Polestar 3 For?

We think that the Polestar 3 is ideal for families and anyone looking for a luxurious yet understated SUV. With a blend of performance, range, and practicality, it’s perfect for both long-distance driving and daily commutes. We’re huge fans. This is an EV that delivers comfort, style, and cutting-edge technology in equal measure.

Final Thoughts

The Polestar 3 is so much more than just an SUV—it’s a statement. Combining clean Scandinavian design, impressive performance, and eco-conscious engineering, it’s the future of electric mobility. Whether you’re a seasoned EV driver or making the switch to electric, the Polestar 3 is worth a close look.
