The BMW i7: A Luxury Electric Saloon Car That Lives Up to the Hype
BMW i7

If you’re looking for an electric saloon car with a serious WOW factor, it’s hard to look past the all electric BMWi7.

According to my co-pilot on this EV adventure, TV Presenter Manish Bhasin, “It’s got it all!” and it’s hard to argue with him.

This exceptional vehicle offers a unique blend of cutting-edge technology, excellent range, performance and styling that turns heads, including petrolheads, wherever it goes.

Here’s my take on what makes the BMW i7 such a force to be reckoned with.

Superb range and imposing design

With a range of 371 to 387 miles and a top speed of 149 mph, the BMW i7 is clearly exceptional. But it’s not just its impressive performance that sets it apart. Its imposing grille gives it a bold appearance and with aerodynamic door handles, doors that close automatically and stylish 21-inch alloys, it’s a spectacle from every angle.

A thoughtfully designed interior

Step inside the BMW i7, for an interior of comfort and functionality. The cabin boasts a head-up display and augmented reality for navigation, ensuring you stay informed and focused on the road. The centre console is crafted to minimise distractions and touch-sensitive controls on both the console and steering wheel provide convenient volume adjustment. Staying connected is a breeze, with two USB-C connectors and a 12-volt charger for seamless phone connectivity.

Embracing comfort and luxury

The BMW i7 takes luxury to a new level with attention to detail and unparalleled comfort features. The rear seats are plush and comfortable, with pillows and a touchpad for controlling various features. A large TV screen, accessible through the touchpad, offers entertainment options such as fire TV and telephone connectivity. Sit back and relax in theatre mode, where everything closes, and the chair adjusts for an immersive movie experience. The screen quality is impressive, and the ceiling even changes colour to match the mood, creating a unique ambiance.

Unrivalled features for ultimate comfort

When it comes to pampering its occupants, the BMW i7 knows no bounds. It has massage seats with various options, including pelvic activation and shoulder massages, making long journeys blissful. A heated armrest adds another layer of comfort, to ensure you feel like royalty on the road. The sense of solidity this car exudes further adds to the overall feeling of luxury and refinement.

A symphony of sound and technology

Renowned composer Hans Zimmer lends his musical talents to the BMW i7’s ‘Expressive’ mode, creating an extraordinary audio experience. This cool and unique sound complements the car’s character, though some may find it slightly sinister. While the theatre screen enhances the entertainment factor, I found it a tad annoying that it blocks the rear-view, which could be easily remedied with the inclusion of a video feed in the rearview mirror, similar to that in the Honda E.

Conclusion

Once you’ve got past the beaver teeth grill, the BMW i7 is a true masterpiece of luxury and innovation for EV saloons. With its remarkable range, imposing design, and comfort features, it continues BMW’s tradition of excellence and makes every journey special. My daughter sobbed uncontrollably when she saw our Press car being taken away, largely due to the huge TV screen that she’d been watching Barbie and Matilda on!

I’ll miss my games of FIFA with Manish and my 7 year old Jack (who is undefeated in the i7!)
Even our camera guys, Callum and Lewis who are normally cool as cucumbers, were giggling like kids in a sweet shop as they explored the car’s gadgets and capabilities.

We would love to hear your thoughts and questions on this car.

Cheers,
Ric Boullemier, aka Sustainable Dad .
